Society of Portrait Sculptors – FACE 2020

Bronze figurative sculpture by Irish artist sculptor Marie Smith
Soraya, accepted for SPS FACE 2020

I am thrilled that my sculpture Soraya has been accepted by The Society of Portrait Sculptors for their annual exhibition FACE 2020.

This international Open Exhibition showcases contemporary portrait and figurative sculpture and consists of about 70 sculptures of which approximately one third is chosen from open submission from non members.

FACE 2020 was due to take place 11-16 May in La Galleria Pall Mall, London, however due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year the exhibition will be online.

Soraya is a French life model whom I worked with at The Atelier Legendre in Paris. We worked together several times but on this occassion, I spent approximately 30 hours with the model in the studio and then further time finishing the piece at my place on Rue Berthe in Montmartre. The piece is available in bronze and Jesmonite.
