Marie Smith is a member of Cavan County Council Artist Panel.
The Artist Panel is made up of artists from all disiplines. Through this initiative, artists will facilitate projects in the community with people of all ages in different settings throughout the county.

- Neighbourhood and county-wide festivals and events
The aim of the panel is not only the create quality artistic projects, but to engage and improve the appreciation and involvement in the arts in the wider community across the county of Cavan.
Clay modelling can improve concentration, reduce stress and anxiety as it requires complete involvement and focus. It also teaches that we can simply enjoy the sensory and tactile process of making something in clay, that there is more than one way of doing things and that in art we can have a sense of achievement in whatever we create. By sharing tools, equipment and ideas, the experience is collaborative and gives a sense belonging.
